Workshops

LTS provides workshops to introduce faculty and staff members to technology used on campus. Focused 1-to-3-hour classes are presented throughout the year. Topics range from basic computer use and introduction to applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word to complete AsULearn training and task-based topics like using Adobe PhotoShop to edit images for the web.

Workshops are typically publicized through the Faculty and Staff mailserve 2 to 3 weeks in advance, though some are scheduled for the whole semester. See the Upcoming Workshops posted to the left or use the Find a Workshop link in the navigation menu to browse all workshops currently scheduled.

Feel free to suggest topics for workshops or request training sessions designed for your work group.

At the bottom of the workshop description page select the Register button beside an open section to sign up using your appalnet login. You will receive a confirmation email and a reminder email the day before the workshop is scheduled. Each workshop has a maximum capacity and a maximum for the Wait List. If a workshop section is full, there may be openings in another section. When workshops fill up quickly, additional sections may be offered: check back for openings. See the Wait List Policy below if you are unable to attend a workshop you signed up for.

Most workshops are held in Room 327 Belk Library and Information Commons on the third floor. The classroom easily accommodates 12 participants. Both Windows and Mac computers are provided as appropriate; and you are welcome to bring your own laptop with the application(s) already installed.

Waitlist Policy

If you put yourself on the Wait List for a workshop, you will be promoted to the first seat that comes available in the order you signed up, and you will be automatically notified by email.

If you sign up for a class and find that you are unable to attend, please Drop yourself from the roster as soon as possible to allow room for others:

  1. Use the same link provided to sign up for the workshop; or go to the Workshops page.
  2. In the top right of the screen select the My Workshops link. You will be prompted to log in with your appalnet ID.
  3. For each workshop in which you are currently enrolled, you will see a Drop button to the right of the workshop information. Select the Drop button to drop your enrollment. The next person on the Wait List will be enrolled into the available seat, and the instructor will be automatically notified. Because schedules change at the last minute, there are typically seats available even when the enrollment is full. If you are on the Wait List, you are welcome to come to the workshop to see if there are any seats open. Priority will be given to those enrolled, then to those on the Wait List.

If you have your own laptop you would like to bring to the workshop, please let the instructor know since another seat may be made available in that case.
