Instructional Design
Our goal is to connect faculty and staff to the latest advancements in instructional technologies. If you are interested in setting up an appointment with an instructional designer, please fill out our consultation form or call 266-HELP (4357) to schedule a time to discuss your instructional design needs.
Consulting
The Learning Technology Services (LTS) team has a wide range of experience and education, and we are available for one-on-one and small group consultation. We are more than happy to help you learn how to use the AsULearn (Course Management System), use digital media tools, or simply help you with pedagogy and incorporating technology in the classroom.
Training
We want to enable you to achieve your goals through workshops, small group or one-on-one interactions. Visit our training site if you are interested in participating in a workshop. We have a 12 seat training room equipped with both Macintosh and Windows laptops.
Instructional Design
The Instructional Designers seek to enhance teaching and learning at Appalachian State through the promotion of a systematic approach to the design and implementation of technology solutions in the learning environment.

AsULearn Course Management System (powered by Moodle)
AsULearn allows classroom interactions to extend onto the web. It allows faculty to post course information, hold class discussions, create and accept assignments, and conduct exams online. AsULearn may be used to create a fully online course or to augment a traditional face-to-face class.

- Use the communication tools with AsUlearn for discussions, chat or wikis
Tools to Consider
- Personal Response Systems (Clickers) - for polling students in class
- Elluminate - a web conferencing tool that allows you meet with with others over the internet. This tool offers the capacity of web cams, chat, documents sharing all through a web interface. Only an internet connection and a headset are required.
