Faculty Request for WebCT Course Cross-Listing

Please submit this form only if you want to virtually combine multiple sections of WebCT courses for which you are the Instructor of Record. Using this mechanism, one course is designated as the Master section and those that link to it are designated as secondary sections - the instructor need only maintain material in the Master. Courses treated in this fashion will show up to students as their correct sections, but when they click on their AppalNET links to go into WebCT they will see the material in the Master section. All of the courses linked in such a fashion will share one the set of tools (e.g., calendar, glossary, quizzes, etc.) among all the linked sections. For each course that you crosslist, the student list from the crosslisted course will be added to the student list of the Master and all student activity will be recorded in that single location, with students from each course identified in WebCT's Manage Course area. (The AppalNET "Group Courses" tool does not serve the same function, it only links the courses into a common grouping within AppalNET.)

PLEASE NOTE: Cross-listing of multiple courses essentially removes any secondary course(s) and replaces them with a link to the Master course. When the secondary course is linked, ALL material, content, calendar, glossary, discussions, or student grades in the secondary course is ERASED and lost forevermore- be sure that you really want to do this if you ask for it. Also, if there is ANYTHING in secondary sections that you wish to save, be sure to make a backup of them BEFORE requesting that they be crosslisted. Once the crosslisting process is complete, it will be difficult and time-consuming to "un-crosslist" the courses - in addition, since ALL content or other information in the secondary course will have already been erased, there will, in effect, be nothing in the course so far as student information is concerned -- PLEASE be absolutely sure you want to do this before requesting it.

LTS cannot be responsible for errors you may make in your request, so please double check the information you provide!

If you are sure that you want to request that courses be cross-listed, you will need to fill out the form below (separately for each set of related classes you wish to cross-list) accurately and completely. If more than one instructor is involved in course sections to be crosslisted, you must list the instructor of record (with the correct e-mail address and telephone number) for each section involved.
