WebCT
Appalachian's license agreement with WebCT is set to expire on Nov. 29, 2008 at 11:59pm. WebCT 4.1, our course management solution of the last several years, is at the end of its product life cycle. In late 2005, Blackboard Inc. merged with WebCT and, as a result, the corporate course management landscape has changed greatly.
Between now and the end of our license agreement with WebCT, Appalachian will be migrating to an open source course management solution called Moodle. While this migration is taking place, however, LTS will continue to fully support WebCT 4.1 at Appalachian with the following services:
Integration will continue (WebCT classlists will continue to be auto-populated with student add/drop events).
Crosslisting of WebCT courses/sections will continued to be offered.
Faculty support and consulting will continue to be available for WebCT. For these services, you should contact Greg Simmons or Jeff Church of Learning Technology Services.
PLEASE NOTE: Although the services listed above will continue through the end of our license agreement with WebCT (Nov. 29, 2008), all LTS training and workshops related to WebCT have been discontinued. LTS staff heartily encourage all faculty who are new adopters to take advantage of our training offerings related to Moodle (AsULearn), the new course management solution, and the services offered by our Instructional Design team.
