To insert special characters into an HTML page, add an & at the beginning and a ; (semicolon) at the end of the "name" of the symbol you want to insert. E.g., To add an empty space (non-breaking space), whose "name" is nbsp, put   in the code; to insert the Λ (capital lambda) character whose "name" is Lambda, you would type Λ into the HTML. Case is important in the character names; Λ translates as the capital letter lambda, while λ translates as the lower case lambda.

(Note that some characters may display differently or not at all, depending on what browser you use and what character encoding is in force - so... check your pages before you publish.)
