Publishing Streaming Media with FileZilla

FileZilla is available through the Application Explorer of any University owned machine under the FTP/Telnet/SSH folder. You can also download it from http://filezilla-project.org/

  1. Open FileZilla FileZillafrom Start > All Programs > FileZilla FTP Client
  2. From the default FileZilla window select File > Site Manager to enter host, username and password information for the web server.Site Manager
  3. Use the following settings, and replace Username and Password with your University username and password (the same used for AppalNET, email and Novell).

  4. Upon your first connection to the server, or if you have previously denied the host key, you will be requested to accept a host key fingerprint from the server. Click Always trust this host to accept the certificate and you will not be prompted again.

  5. Upon successful connection, you will be in your home directory on the server. You should see private_flash and public_flash directories if you have already requested a streaming account.

  6. Double-click private_flash to open the directory in preparation for uploading media files to integrate with your AsULearn course. If you are publishing files to integrate with a publicly accessible website you will upload to the public_flash directory.

  7. To upload select the FLV, MP4, or Mp3 file from your local computer and right-click > Upload.

  8. FileZilla will remember your Site Manager configuration, on subsequent uses you can select the Site Manager icon and choose your www.appstate.edu host from the list.
