Teaching and Technology Survey
In April 2009 Appalachian State University faculty were invited to complete an online survey to gauge their interest in topics related to teaching and the use of technology in teaching.
More than 170 faculty responded to this survey about teaching and technology. Here’s a snapshot of the responses.
These topics ranked the highest:
1. Using AsULearn to create a paperless classroom environment.
2. Learning about successful methods for teaching online.
3. Using electronic portfolios (ePortfolios) for assessment or teaching.
4. Options for video/audio capture and delivery.
5. Improving grading criteria and rubrics for classroom or online activities.
6. Learning how to utilize Problem Based Learning methods.
7. Facilitating discussions online or in the classroom.
8. Leaning about the relationship between assessment and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
9. Creating rubrics.
We are in the process of examining the responses to the open-ended questions and summarizing our findings. Not only will this data be used for planning purposes, but we hope it will spark further conversations on the relationship between teaching, learning, and technology.
Look for more information about workshops and other learning opportunities by the end of the summer.
