Resource Tools
When you click the Turn Editing On button on your course's homepage, you will see the Add an resource... dropdown menu in each available topic. Click the menu, and you will see the following options:

Book: The Book tool allows you to create a group of pages that are linked by a single table of contents. If you are familiar with WebCT, this is analogous to the "Content Module." The Book tool is great for syllabi or any linear content that consists of multiple pages. An especially nice feature of Book is that printing style sheets are automatically embedded in any page you create, allowing students to click on the "Print Complete Book" (to print all pages in your book) or "Print Chapter" (and individual page) and get a version pre-formatted for printing. That means instructors no longer need to put up a "printable copy" or PDF of their web content. Put it in Book and let AsULearn handle the print formatting for you, and your students!
Insert a label: Labels allow you to create text and place images that are then embedded directly among the other activity/resource links in the course homepage. They can be used for everything from a simple heading like "Week One: Introduction" to more elaborate text with an image. Labels are created through access to AsULearn WYSIWYG webpage editor. Through practically anything is possible, LTS strongly recommends that you keep labels short and informative.
QuickLink: QuickLink allows you to choose from a list of verified and professionally-maintained resources pages from the ASU Library and/or Online Student Support Services, and automatically creates a single link in your course site to those you choose.
Compose a text page: This type of resource is a simple page written using plain text, with no styling. This is good for resources that are disturbed by formatting and styling, such as computer source code, markup language, raw and CSS, etc.
Compose a web page: This resource makes it easy to develop a complete single web page within AsULearn, using the WYSIWYG HTML editor. The pages you create with this resource are stored in AsULearn's database, not as a discrete file. That is, they will NOT show up in your course's Files area. All the WYSIWYG editor's styling and formatting tools are available to you, and you may also use Javascript.
Link to a file or web site:
This resource allows you to link to any web page or other file that is available on the internet. It also allows you to link to any web page or other file that you have uploaded into your course's Files area from your own desktop computer. Normal web pages are simply displayed as they are, while multimedia files are dealt with more intelligently and may be embedded within a web page. For example, MP3 files will be displayed using a built-in player, as will movie files, and flash animations. There are many options for how linked content is displayed, with easy options for sending links to new windows or frames.
Display a directory:
A very useful resource that allows the instructor to display to the students a complete directory (and its subdirectories) from your course's Files area. Students can then browse, view, and download all of those files.
Add an IMS Content Package:
This resource type allows you add to your course any packages conforming to the IMS content packaging specifications. Simply upload the zipped package and deploy. There are various options for displaying content popup windows, with a navigation menu or buttons, etc. Your most common source for this kind of content would be textbook publishers and other content providers. IF you have questions about IMS content, you are encouraged to contact an LTS staff member at 266-HELP (4357) for assistance.
