Overview of Site Interface
At the top left of the site you will see the MyCourses block, expand/collapse the appropriate term by clicking the +/- icons.

Once you have clicked on the link to an available course, you will notice the following features in the course template.

- Login status: Your name provides a link to your profile page. Learn how to update your profile.
- Breadcrumb trail: At the upper left of the course frame, you will notice a line of linked text. Since AsULearn is a dynamic website, navigate using the breadcrumb trail instead of the back button in your browser. The breadcrumb trail will provide you with an accurate visual cue of your location within your course site.
Help button: These buttons provide role-based and context-sensitive help and are located throughout the course site. - Switch Role to... dropdown menu: Your course site allows you to quickly and easily change to a student role in your course. Click the Switch Role to… dropdown menu and select Student to temporarily change your role in the course.
There are two ways to return to the teacher role. You may either click the button labeled Return to my normal role, or you may click directly above this button on the linked text, Return to my normal role.
Note: You may preview assignments and quizzes in the student role. However, you cannot create submissions that will be saved to the grade book. If you wish to save answers to quizzes, assignments or grades so that they may be viewed in the grade book, then you must assign yourself a dual role as Student . Learn how to assign roles.
Once you are assigned to both teacher and student roles, use the Switch Roles button to experiment with submitting quizzes or assignments. Submissions will now also be available in the gradebook.
- Turn editing on button: Only those with editing privileges will have this button. Click the Turn editing on button and you will see a new series of icons and dropdown menus appear in the content area. The functionality of these tools and features can be found on the following pages: Content Outline Area, List of Activity Tools, List of Resource Tools, and Types of Blocks.
- News Forum: Each AsULearn template contains a News Forum in Topic 0. The News Forum is intended to be used for course-wide announcements. All students are force subscribed to this forum, which means they will automatically receive daily emails at their ASU email address of the instructor's forum posts.
- Block areas: The left and right columns on the course homepage are reserved for blocks. Learn how to use blocks in your course.
Jump to... dropdown menu (see below): Once you enter a resource or activity, this menu appears in place of your login status and name. This menu provides links to all of the activities and resources in your course site.
